GEN10
Nadia Comăneci and Ciprian Marica with two children, the GEN10 Vodafone competition for Romania’s new generation of 10

Registrations are closed

The jury is reviewing the videos submitted. The finalists will be announced on 9 November.

The arenas are full.Full of people, of hope, of anticipation. But, when the lights turn on over the country’s stadiums… the fields are empty. What remains is the echo of generations that once made our hearts race. And yet, while the stadiums and the gymnastics halls fall silent… behind apartment blocks, in schoolyards, on playgrounds and on open fields across the country, the voices of future champions can be heard. There are those who run until they can run no more. Those who jump higher than they believed they could. Those who fall and rise again. Those who still don’t know how far they can go.Talented, passionate, ambitious children.Left unseen.

Romania’s future champions exist today. On a playground. In a schoolyard. In a village. In a neighbourhood. They just need to be discovered.Vodafone seeks out, nurtures and supports Romania’s new Generation of 10.Alongside Nadia Comăneci and Ciprian Marica.

All about GEN10

Vodafone believes in every child’s potential and in the power of passion to turn into performance. That is why we created GEN10, the national programme through which we look for, support and grow a new generation of Romanian champions.

GEN10 is for children talented at gymnastics and football, and is a project supported by Vodafone alongside two of Romania’s greatest champions, Nadia Comăneci and Ciprian Marica.

The programme invited the parents of children talented at gymnastics or football to register them on GEN10.ro, simply by uploading a video in which they showed their sporting talent.

Registration

Parents registered their child, talented at gymnastics or football, with a demo video.

Evaluation

The evaluation is under way: every demo video is being reviewed right now by Nadia Comaneci and Ciprian Marica, together with their teams, who assess each child’s sporting potential and identify the most promising candidates.

Event for the finalists

After the selection made by Nadia Comăneci and Ciprian Marica, all the finalists are invited to an event where they present and demonstrate their sporting talent. Following this stage, 10 gymnasts and 11 footballers are chosen, becoming the programme’s winners and receiving one of the scholarships.

The GEN10 scholarships

The scholarship winners enter an intensive training programme over the course of a year by a team of professionals, under the guidance of Nadia Comăneci and Ciprian Marica.

Frequently asked questions

Who could register for GEN10?

Registrations closed on 31 October. Children resident in Romania could be registered by a parent or guardian: girls aged 5 to 8 in Gymnastics and boys aged 8 to 14 in Football.

What did the registration video look like?

Filmed vertically, straight from the phone, up to 40 seconds long and no more than 400 MB (MP4 or MOV). The clip had to contain at least one of the four compulsory moves for the chosen sport.

Could a child be registered more than once?

Yes, as many times as you liked — and each registration could include up to 4 different clips. All clips in a registration were watched in full and counted together in a single evaluation. However many registrations were submitted, each child holds one place in the ranking and can receive one scholarship and one kit.

Who sees my child’s video?

Only accredited people: the team that checks the registrations and the jury members, inside the secure platform — the clips are never public and cannot be downloaded. Only finalists and winners appear on the site, and only with your separate consent, requested after the selection.

How do I find out the results?

By email, at the address in the form. Finalists are also announced on the site (name, age and category — only with your consent). The scholarship winners are announced at the GEN10 Gala, on 18 November, and on the site.

How can I delete my child’s data?

At any time, by request to gdpr@gen10.ro. We delete the data and the videos from the platform, in line with the Privacy Policy. Keep the registration number you received when you signed up — it helps us find the file quickly.

What are the compulsory moves?

Four exercises for each sport, chosen by the teams of Nadia Comăneci and Ciprian Marica, which the child must show in the clip — at least one of them. You can see them all, with video demonstrations, in the filming guide.

Where does the training take place if my child wins a scholarship?

In the town you choose when registering, from among the partner centres — Gymnastics: Timișoara, Deva, Onești, București and Constanța · Football: Oradea, Sibiu, Brașov, Iași, Pitești, Craiova, București and Constanța.
